Dear Alexandra
My name is Mario and I live in a small city to the South of Brazil.
Like you should already know, my native language is the Portuguese, and I still have some difficulty with your language, Therefore, forgive me for my eventual mistakes in English.
I have the picture of your site in the screen of my computer, I accompanied your career as actress, from the series \"The Champions.\" I had a true fascination for your beauty; It is Pity, that at that time, the Internet, and the possibility of interacting with an artistic celebrity would not exist,... was an impossible thing. Besides the Series \"The Champions\" I accompanied other works On that you acted at the movies.
Know that today with 54 years, I continue being your admirer and your fan; I have admiration for the people that go by this life and they leave your mark, they leave memorable things, and you left and it shone in the Series \"The Champions\" and it continues shining, only that in another stage of your life.
It is Pity that the internet still doesn\'t turn possible to give a hug to take a picture and to ask an autograph...., If it was possible I would ask with certainty.
Congratulations for everything that you did and you do until today...
Mario

Just want to say that you are a fantastic lady and I cant watch enough of the Champions. You were all so good but the best one was when you all had to protect il cordijio, the iron man.
Thankyou for all your wonderful work on and off screen. You are an icon.
Well even at the age of eight years old I recognised beauty in the form of Ms Macready, back in the great sixties. Glad I was bought up in the photographic industry then. I can imagine those wonderful times especially with friends like Kate O\'Mara. I trust you all sink some vino together now and then! Best wishes for 2010 and I will hopefully visit on one of your open days in support of your excellent cause. Adam.

I have just found your website. When I was younger I watched The Champions on tv - it was my favourite. As far as I was concerned, Sharron was the most beautiful woman in the world, as well as being smart, intelligent and brave. I have been watching the series again recently and am still of the same opinion. I think your website is fantastic, especially the work you do with and for animals, makes me realise that you are not just beautiful, smart and intelligent like Sharron but caring, kind and compassionate too. I am so proud to be a fan and shall tell everyone I know that I still love The Champions and Sharron Mcready! Wishing you all the best for the future, I shall join your fan club soon.

Thank you for making the choice to go into television, rather than go to university. Im sure they couldnt teach you anything. Best regards. Ashley

Hi Alexandra, great to see your wonderful work with the animal sanctuary. My first introduction to you however, like many of your avid fans, was through “The Champions”. I had a huge crush on Sharon Macready as a very young boy (am now 48) and was very jealous of Craig Sterling and Richard Barrat :-). Keep up the great work you’re doing with the sanctuary. The site is great by the way. Take care. Kind regards, Barrie x

She was very impressed with your work as indeed I am. You do marvellous work with your sanctuary.

Hi, just to say how much i admire what you have done with your life. Iwatched Champions as a little girl and would nag my mum to do my hair like yours and one day she came home from the hairdressers with your hair! I was so impressed as she was then what we now call a yummy mummy! and i loved it when she took me to school dressed and coiffed like you so trendy. My son is now watching the reruns on ITV 4, at last watching quality, that and The Saint. he thinks you are well fit and look well fit now after showing me your website...he is 16 so hot is really cool lol. Wishing you well and success with your ventures. We only rehomed a dog, a weimerhaner so you make me very jealous, i would love to have loads of babies to care for.
I watch Champions reruns just to see you, along with vast numbers of the male population, one imagines.
Wonderful to see how well you look and the work you are doing.
Makes me wish I was an abused donkey.
All the best
forever gorgeous on

PS Expect a donation as soon as I am in funds.
Hi Alexandra,
I\'ve just been watching an episode of The Champions. I recently re-discovered the series on sky after watching it every week as a youngster. I had a crush on you then, but I didn\'t realise how good the three of you were, and my crush has been rekindled! You were fantastic then and now I\'ve discovered what a caring person you are it\'s even better. Well done for your work with animals (I have a cat called Gizmo). I\'ll be donating immediately and hoping that you keep well. Lots of love and good wishes,
Ian.

Dear Alexandra,
I have recently been watching re-runs of The Champions on T.V. because, as an eight year old boy (1968) I fell in love with a woman who wasn't my mum!
Then, this week whilst flicking through the Daily Mail I couldn't believe my eyes! There was your story! I am really sorry to hear about your health problems in the past and I am relieved to hear that it IS in the past. Just wish I'd known about you auctioning the old Pirelli calender which featured you.
Just wanted to say that you are one of the most beautiful women to walk the earth and looking at you now still gives me goose bumps. There aren't many women that can do that to me!
All the best with your animal charity and good luck for your future happiness.

Hi Alex,
I just wanted to say I have been a Alexandra Bastedo fan since 1968. At the age of seven years old, I think the benchmark had been set of what I thought a beautiful women should be like. In some ways we have had one thing in common, for the past 27 years I have worked as a Medical Professional rescuing people and you rescuing animals.I'm sure the animals are far more appreciative.Any way if you wondered who the guy was with the Nikon camera and the telephoto lens at West Chiltington fete last Saturday. It was not the paparazzi it was me, just wished I had plucked up the courage to say hello!!! however did donate to your charity.
God bless and keep up the good work.

West Chiltington is a beautiful setting.
During 30 years you must have cared for hundreds of animals and I hope you can continue for many more years (even if it is not another 30!).
My wife and I have cared for several rescued cats and greyhounds over the years and it always gladdens the heart to see animals being cared for.
I look forward to bringing friends to further open-days if you can arrange them.

Lovely to hear that you're alive and well, active (missed you in Eastenders) and as stunning as ever: the pedestal I put you on as a young boy still fits! You prove what exquisite taste I had even back then...

Just found this site after watching \\\\\\\"The Champions\\\\\\\" on TV again recently, and I always though you were gorgeous, and still are!
Those old TV shows show there age a bit now but they are still entertaining compared with the new stuff on the box, sooner watch them than big brother and other dummed down reality shows.
Hmm maybe I might get myself a calendar one day...not for the dates for the photos!

Hi Alexandra! I have to admit I was quite ignorant before today about who you actually were, until my Dad finally admitted that I was named after an actress from the TV series The Champions! He said that him and his friend had a deal that whoever had a daughter first they could name her after you.. and from what I’ve seen I’m highly honoured! and I'm also quite fond of the name so thanks! Yours faithfully, Alexandra II! :)

Hi alexandra, I am currently watching the series of the champions on sky television.I can say that I am enjoying it as much as the first time I viewed it as a younger person. You were a role model for myself regarding women being in control of their own lives and being in a mostly masculine world,at the time. I feel the program was ahead of its time, in its subject content and the role of women

Hello Sharon Mcrady
I was born in 1966 in BANGKOK,THAILAND,about 2 years after your series\'s first launch in U.S.A. ,but lucky enough to had a chance to watched \"The Champion\"on black and white television with my family(our favorite program),at that time,I did not understand much about the story. One thing I can remember is \"Sharon\" is very pretty!and want to have girl friend look like this when i grow up(I was 5 or 6 years old back then)The way you posted in beginning title is pretty cool.
Recently,I happened to see your reunion with Craig and Richard (Name in the series)You still look great even this age.
Wish you stay beauty, healthy and live long.
Hope you have a chance to read this message by yourselve.

Hello Alexandra
Have a lot of time and respect for you, as an actress, person and your work with the animal sanctuary.
It's a great pity more people are'nt as caring about our animal friends as you are. I abhor cruelty to animals and get very upset and angry when I read about it.
I would like to offer you my full support in your work and will be purchasing from your website in the very near future!
I was 10 years old when the Champions was first aired and have downloaded the first 8 episodes from the Apple Store...what a delight. At 10 you were my dream girl in fact I have an aunt who until recently stayed outside Geneva and my first trip to Switzerland was 1972. Just out of interest was Nemesis filmed in an office in Geneva or was the Geneva background a photograph. I was so pleased to see what you are doing now... rescuing animals. As part of my sideline I photograph dogs and have 2 dogs, one rescue dog called Tiger (12) and one 3 year old farm collie called Flori. All the dog owners in my local park have asked me to make a 2009 calendar and it\'s mainly full of rescue dogs, we hope to sell them to give money to the SSPCA but I will also tell them about your sanctuary and hopefully send you a donation as well. Keep up the good work lots of love and kisses...Philip

Dear Alexandra, I send sincere greetings from New Zealand. I have been very late to discover you since I never saw The Champions and I have only seen you in one film, Kashmiri Run with Pernell Roberts (my fave actor). I am very impressed with your commitment to animals, best wishes for your animal project and your continuing career. Dale.

It sounds like a spanish person swearing in english..Bastedo. But oh Alexandra, what beauty and elegance you brought to our screens 40 years ago when "The Champions" first began. Now in 2008 you are doing it again in "Eastenders". Patrick Garland was a lucky man to have you marry him. Some guys have all the luck, as the song goes. (Robert Palmer in case you were wondering who sang it.) Mostly now it is the turn of the animals to benefit from your kindness. The overrding inpression I get from your website is one of a woman who is very grounded and has never taken her celebrity too seriously. Unlike many other famos people. So keep up the good work at the sanctuary and never turn down any v roles as I personally cant see enough of you on the small screen.

I never tire of watching the champions repeats. The opening scenes and soundtrack always take me back to when I first saw it as a five/six year old in my pyjamas and dressing gown ready for bed and begging my late Mum to let me stop up and watch it. Needless to say, you were always my favourite; I may have been only five years old but I was as captivated by your beauty then as I am now although my little sister always prefered Stuart Damon - for similar reasons no doubt.
Best wishes to you and all your animals and keep up the good work, Matt.
I had the pleasure of meeting you in 1983 in Drumheller, Alberta where you were filming the Movie " Draw " with Kirk Douglas and James Coburn.
We have several wonderful photographs taken with my son Scott-now 30 years old.
This tour down memory lane and seeing all of your work related projects and photographs, current and up do date were very special.
We look forward to seeing more of your work. Any chance you again film in western Canada?
We still have the scrapbook of your press clippings and letters.
regards,
Rene Jaspar
